Back in July 2022, ASUS introduced its ROG Phone 6, which was powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. However, the latest leaks and rumors from the industry indicate that the company is working on the next-generation model. Today, we got a look at another leak of ASUS’s upcoming gaming phone.
This morning, two new devices from ASUS got listed on Chinese 3C Certification, which carries the following model numbers: ASUS_AI2205_A and ASUS_AI2205_B. As per sources, both devices belong to the standard version of ROG Phone 7; only their regions differ. The one having A, in the end, belongs to the Global version, while the second one is the Chinese variant of ROG Phone 7.
Both devices use the same traditional 65W power adaptor that ASUS already used in its ROG Phone 6 series. In addition, these chargers support charging at the following modes: 16.25-65W (5V-20V/3.25A), 15W (5V/3A), 27W (9V/3A), 36W (12V/3A), and 45W (15V/3A).
Except this, the 3C Certification didn’t consist of anything more. However, the previous leaks revealed that the all-new ROG Phone 7 series would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset (except ROG Phone 7D). This SoC is the best option you can get in Android smartphones at the moment.
In terms of specifications, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 is based on TSMC’s 2nd Generation 4nm manufacturing process and features the following cores: 1x Cortex-X3 Super-Core (@3.2GHz), 2x Cortex-A715 and 2x Cortex-A710 Performance Cores (@2.8GHz) and 3x Cortex-A510 Energy-efficient Cores (@2.0GHz).
In total, there would be three models in the ROG Phone 7 series, including the ROG Phone 7 standard version, ROG Phone 7D (Dimensity chipset powered model), and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. These models will feature AMOLED Displays and run the latest Android 13 OS. In addition, the highest storage variant in ROG Phone 7 and 7D would be 16+256GB, while in the Ultimate version, it would be 16+512GB.
Currently, the information regarding the new ROG Phone 7 series is very minimal. However, the launch is expected in the third quarter of 2023.
