We all know that Samsung is working on its upcoming foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5. Even a few days ago, both devices were listed on the 3C certification, which hints that Samsung has almost completed the design phase.
This afternoon, Ice Universe revealed the dimensions and weight of the Galaxy Z Fold5, showing that Samsung has slightly reduced the thickness and weight of the device.
The blogger revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 measures 154.9 x 129.9 x 6.1 mm in the unfolded state. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold4 (155.1 x 130.1 x 6.3 mm), the length, width and thickness of the device in the unfolded state have been reduced by 0.2 mm.
In the folded state, the dimensions are 154.9 x 67.1 x 13.4 mm. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold4, the length difference is still 0.2mm, and the width is the same as the Galaxy Z Fold4. However, the thickness is reduced by 0.8-2.4 mm (Galaxy Z Fold4 dimensions in folded state: 155.1 x 130.1 x 14.2-15.8 mm).
The Galaxy Z Fold5 weighs around 254g, which is 9g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold4. The blogger also mentioned that the size of the inner and outer screens will remain the same, i.e., the 6.2-inch outer screen and the 7.6-inch inner screen.
There is relatively little information about the specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold5.. However, it is known that it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The chipset is based on TSMC’s 4nm 2nd-generation manufacturing process and has a Cortex-X3 core at 3.36GHz.
Samsung will reportedly begin mass production of the Galaxy Z Fold5 in early June, and the launch event of the device is expected to take place at the end of July 2023.
