Huawei Mate 9 Battery Removal & Replacement

In this guide, we are going to show you how to remove and replace the battery on Huawei Mate 9 smartphone. These removal instructions have been made into 5 easy to follow steps. In order to remove the battery, you need to remove the SIM card tray, back cover. Disconnect the fingerprint & power button cable, battery connector from the motherboard.

Repair Tools Needed:
T2 Torx Screwdriver
Phillips #000 Screwdriver
Suction cup
Pick
Tweezers
Spudger
SIM Card Eject Tool

1. Removing the SIM card tray and two T2 screws

First of all, switch off your Huawei Mate 9 and remove the SIM card tray use a SIM card eject tool.
Remove the two T2 screws located at the bottom next to the device’s USB Type-C port.

2. Separating the back cover

Use a suction cup to separate the display assembly from the back cover.

Lift up the display a little bit with a suction cup and insert a pick.
Slide the pick along the display edge on both sides.

Please don’t remove the back cover completely. The fingerprint and power button cable is still connected to the motherboard.

3. Disconnect the battery connector

In order to protect the internal components, we need to disconnect the battery connector.
Remove the screw securing the metal plate.

Remove the metal plate use tweezers.

Disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.

4. Removing the back cover

Disconnect the battery connector with a spudger.

Now you can remove the back cover completely.

5. Removing the battery

Disconnect the display cable and main FPC from the motherboard.

Uncover the ends of the adhesive pull tabs to get a good grip on them.
Pull the adhesive tabs in a slow constant movement to free the battery.

Insert a card under the battery to separate the battery.
Because the battery is very thin, very easy to bend, I highly recommend you use the old card to pry the battery.

As you can see, there is a layer of foam glue used to fix the battery.

  1. I have a Huawei mate 9 and I installed Opera Mini but now the phone is not working. It has stalled for two days now. No button is working. There is a message “PROCESS SYSTEM ISN’T REPONDING” DO YOU WANT TO CLOSE IT? When I press wait or Ok nothing happens.

    What shall I do. I can’t switch it off and do not know how to remove the battery.
