Huawei launched its first foldable phone, the Mate X, in early 2019, but two years have passed without an updated model. Today, Huawei’s official Weibo announced that the Mate X2 will be released on February 22.
According to previous reports, the Huawei Mate X2 will feature an inward-folding dual-screen design. Screen suppliers include panel manufacturers such as Samsung and BOE. The inner screen will use an 8.01-inch display with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 and support a 120Hz refresh rate. It will not use UTG (ultra-thin glass), but instead use scratch-resistant CPI (colorless polyimide) material. The external secondary screen measures 6.45 inches with a resolution of 2700 x 1160.
This phone will come with a quad-camera system consisting of 50MP, 16MP, 12MP, and 8MP lenses, including a periscope telephoto lens that supports 10x hybrid optical zoom. The phone has been certified by the MIIT, which reveals it has a built-in 4400 mAh battery and body dimensions of 161.8 x 145.8 x 8.2 mm. The 3C certification indicates that the phone supports 66W fast charging.
In other respects, the device will feature the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chipset, support Bluetooth 5.1, and run EMUI 11.
Huawei has not announced the specifications of this phone yet. It is reported that the device will feature a new patented technology that offers a superior display experience. More detailed information will not be revealed until February 22.
