HP Pavilion 15-ab000 disassembly and RAM, HDD Upgrade Options
In this guide, I will disassemble the HP Pavilion 15-ab000 to remove the bottom case, battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, and motherboard.

According to the white sticker on the bottom cover, the laptop model is the HP Pavilion 15-ab065tx.
Unlock the two latches on the bottom cover, slide the battery downward, and remove it.
Remove all screws securing the bottom cover.
The HP Pavilion 15-ab000 comes with a 14.8V, 41Wh Li-ion battery. The HP part numbers are HSTNN-IB6X and 800009-141.
Insert a plastic pick near the screen hinge under the bottom cover. There are some clips on the bottom cover to secure it to the palm rest. Slide the pick to unlock all the clips to remove the bottom cover completely.
Under the cover, you will be able to access the RAM, hard drive, wireless card, speakers, CMOS battery, heat sink, cooling fan, and motherboard.
Here are the heat sink and cooling fan modules.
The USB board connects to the motherboard via a white ribbon cable.
The HP Pavilion 15-ab000 comes with two RAM slots, and only one RAM module was installed, so you can upgrade the RAM by installing another RAM module. The part number of the RAM module is 693374-005.
Remove the screws securing the optical drive and pull it out.
The HP Pavilion 15-ab000 features an HL-DT-ST GU80N DVD burner.
The laptop features a Micron 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM module. You can add another 8GB RAM module to make a total of 16GB dual-channel memory.
Remove the screws securing the wireless network card, disconnect the two antennas, and then remove the wireless network card.
The laptop comes with a HGST 1TB 5400 RPM hard drive.
The Intel Core i7-5500U processor of the HP Pavilion 15-ab000 is soldered onto the motherboard, so its processor cannot be replaced or upgraded.

Remove all screws securing the motherboard and disconnect all the cables.
Lift the motherboard from one side with your hand, then wiggle it until it separates from the palm rest.
My bottom case won’t just come off. The top right corner (ESC key, brightness keys, volume keys) seems to be stuck. I want to force it, but I’m not sure if I should. I have unscrewed all the necessary screws, I believe. Any ideas?
