Lenovo Thinkpad T440s Disassembly

In this guide, I will explain how to disassemble the Lenovo ThinkPad T440S to remove the battery, RAM, wireless card, hard drive, speaker, heat sink, and cooling fan.

Unlock and remove the battery.
Remove the eight screws securing the bottom case.

Insert a plastic pry tool between the bottom cover and the palm rest. There are several latches on the palm rest that secure the bottom cover in place. You need to use the pry tool to release all the latches before you can remove the bottom cover.

Continue to separate the bottom cover with your hands.

When the bottom case is removed, you can access the battery, hard drive, wireless card, speakers, heat sink, and cooling fan.

Internal structure

The Lenovo Thinkpad T440S comes with a spare slot for easy memory upgrades.

Insert the new memory module and tighten the clips on both sides.
Install the memory module

Remove the six screws securing the heat sink and disconnect the cooling fan cable, and then remove the heat sink and cooling fan.

Remove one screw and slide the hard drive module to the left to remove it.
Remove the hard drive

Remove the three screws securing the battery, then disconnect the battery power cable. The battery can be removed.
