Asus Taichi 31 Disassembly and RAM, SSD Upgrade Options

In this guide, I will explain how to disassemble the Asus Taichi 31 to remove the bottom cover, SSD, keyboard, Wireless card, heat sink, cooling fan, speakers, and motherboard.

Remove all screws from the bottom cover and the two hidden screws.

Remove the two hidden screws under the rubber pads.

Insert a plastic pry tool between the bottom cover and palm rest. Slide the pry tool until the bottom cover is completely detached from the laptop.
After removing the bottom cover, you can access the battery, wireless card, SSD, heat sink, cooling fan, speakers, and motherboard.

Remove all screws securing the battery and disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.

The battery has been removed.

The laptop features a 53Wh Li-Polymer battery. The Asus part number is C41-TAICHI31.

Remove the four screws securing the heat sink.

Remove the three screws securing the cooling fan and unplug the two cooling fan cables from the motherboard.

Now you can remove the heat sink and cooling fan.

The cooling system of the Asus Taichi 31 consists of a copper tube and two fans. The cooling fan comes from SUNON.

Remove the screw securing the SSD and take it out of the M.2 slot.

The laptop comes with a SanDisk 256GB SSD.

Disconnect the two wireless card antennas and remove the screw securing the wireless card.

The Asus Taichi 31 comes with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless card.

Remove all screws securing the motherboard.
Disconnect all the cables, including the LCD cable, speaker cable, touchpad cable, and keyboard cable.
Remove the motherboard

Lift the motherboard from one side and wiggle it until it completely detaches from the laptop. Under the motherboard, you can access the keyboard.
