    I ordered this part after the heatsink on my 8th gen X1 carbon started failing and making noises. Note that the thermal paste is pre-applied, so the normal tube of paste is not necessary. Replacement was simple. The part fit well as expected and the new fan is working flawlessly.

One thing to note, after you remove the bottom cover, before you touch the internal components, please disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard first, this is to not damage your laptop.
