A few days ago, all the major Chinese smartphone manufacturers unveiled their fast-charging technologies, with speeds up to 125W. iQOO also announced its 120W fast-charging technology, and reports suggest the company will soon unveil a new smartphone with 120W charging.
Today, iQOO officially confirmed that the upcoming iQOO 5 series will be unveiled at a launch event on August 17. According to Digital Chat Station, the iQOO 5 series includes two devices. The first will feature a high-performance flagship chipset, while the second will support 120W fast charging, enabling a full charge in just 15 minutes.
Previously, an unknown iQOO phone featuring 120W fast charging also appeared in the wild. The device has a single punch-hole screen, with the display edges encased in the case. It has an AMOLED display and also supports the always-on display feature.
As previously introduced, this fast-charging technology is the first to support a 6C specification battery cell, which can withstand a maximum input current of 12A. A customized charge pump chip can also achieve 60W of conversion power using a dual-battery-cell series technology. It can convert 20V/6A to 5V/12A for a 120W charging input.
Currently, the iQOO 5 series is set to launch on 17 August.
