Design
At first glance, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 features a very sleek design. This laptop is only available in Arctic Grey. According to some sources, we also learn that this laptop is available in blue in the Chinese market.

The entire laptop is made of aluminum alloy, giving it a high-end feel. The classic Lenovo logo is printed in the upper right corner of the display housing. There is a bump at the top of the screen that houses a webcam, microphone, and ToF sensor.

The laptop measures 312 x 221 x 15.99 mm and weighs 1.46 kg. While its weight may be a bit heavy for some business users, it is in line with the standard weight of most laptops in this category. Although the laptop supports a maximum opening and closing angle of 85 degrees, some consumers may prefer a 180-degree opening and closing design for greater flexibility in different usage scenarios. The laptop has passed MIL-STD-810H military standard testing, ensuring its body has exceptional durability in harsh environments.
Display
When you open the laptop, you will see a 14-inch OLED glossy display with a 16:10 screen ratio. The display supports 2880×1800 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of brightness. According to the official statement, the display covers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, has a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, and is certified by Eyesafe 2.0 and DisplayHDR True Black 500.
The screen-to-body ratio is not unknown, but it feels that the screen-to-body ratio is very high in actual use. The left and right bezels are very narrow. The top bezel has a bump that integrates a Full HD IR camera, microphone, and ToF sensors, which also support Windows Hello facial recognition.

Thanks to integrated IR and ToF sensors, this laptop offers AI beauty features, including intelligent background blur, automatic face correction, and smart beautification. These features enhance the video call and meeting experience. Additionally, the camera shutter can block the camera when not in use.
Before evaluating the display, it’s worth noting that the laptop has an OLED energy-saving mode built into the system manager. This mode allows users to dim system toolbars, application backgrounds, and display processing, adjusting screen brightness in specific areas through partition control technology. This not only extends the screen life but also improves the laptop’s battery life.
To test the display, we used the Spyder X. After testing, we found that the display covers 100% sRGB, 97% Adobe RGB, and 99.9% DCI-P3 color gamut. The average Delta-E value measured was 0.92 (with a peak of 2.28), which meets the requirements of professional graphic designers. The OLED display in the IdeaPad Pro 5 performs quite well overall.

Keyboard
The laptop has a backlit keyboard and speakers on the left and right sides. The keycaps are designed to be more ergonomic and provide a better input experience.

The power button located in the upper right corner has a rectangular design with rounded edges. Under the keyboard is a glass multi-touch trackpad with dimensions of 75 x 120 mm. The trackpad has a satisfactory feel for touch and click.
The trackpad supports Lenovo’s proprietary quick-access touch gestures, enhancing the user experience. These gestures include: swiping in on both sides to minimize windows, swiping up and down to adjust volume in full-screen applications, and swiping up at the bottom to tile windows. Once users get used to these gestures, they become very convenient tools.
Ports
The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 is equipped with a rich array of ports to fully meet the various needs of business users.
Starting from the left side of the laptop, there is an HDMI 2.1 port that supports 4K resolution and a 60fps frame rate. Next up is a USB 4.0 Type-C port with a transfer rate of 40Gbps and support for PD 3.0 charging and DisplayPort 1.4 functionality. The other Type-C port supports a data transfer rate of 10 Gbps, DisplayPort 1.4, and PD 3.0 charging. On the right side, there are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports (both support 5Gbps data transfer). There is also an SD card reader slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
With seven interfaces, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 meets the diverse needs of business laptop users, eliminating the need to purchase or carry an additional USB docking station.
Battery and Charging
The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 comes with an 84Wh Li-Polymer battery. The battery capacity has been increased to 75Wh from the previous generation to 84Wh. For a 14-inch laptop, this battery capacity is more than enough.
Lenovo also includes a 100W GaN USB Type-C AC adapter with fast charging capabilities. With just 15 minutes of charging, users can get up to 3 hours of battery life. Additionally, its three-plug design reduces the risk of electric shock, ensuring user safety. In some regions, Lenovo also offers a 140W USB-C charger.
According to the official specifications, the laptop has a battery life of 22.5 hours when playing local 1080p video (at 150 nits brightness) and 15.5 hours in the MobileMark benchmark (at 250 nits brightness). We verified battery life using PCMark 10 Modern Office tests. Before testing, the brightness was set to 150 nits, the refresh rate was set to 60 Hz, the energy-saving mode was turned on, and the keyboard backlight was turned off. We measured a battery life of 13 hours and 35 minutes. These results show that the IdeaPad Pro 5’s battery life is excellent, fully meeting the needs of business laptop users.
RAM and SSD
The laptop has two RAM options: 16GB and 32GB. The laptop we reviewed comes with 32GB of RAM. The 32GB of RAM is LPDDR5x-6400 dual-channel memory, soldered to the motherboard, so the memory capacity cannot be upgraded. It is worth mentioning that the memory frequency can be increased to 7500MHz through the BIOS.
To test memory performance, we used the AIDA64 cache and memory benchmark tool. The test results are as follows: read speed of 50,402 MB/s, write speed of 93,012 MB/s, copy speed of 69,023 MB/s, with a latency rate of 110.7 ns.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 comes with a 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD, with an optional 512GB storage capacity available. Unfortunately, the device only offers one SSD slot, and storage cannot be expanded by adding another SSD. In this case, if you need to expand the storage, you must replace the current SSD. To benchmark the SSD, we used the CrystalDiskMark application. Once the tests were completed, we obtained the following results: 5201.72 MB/s for sequential read and 4899.73 MB/s for sequential write, 65.97 MB/s for 4K random read, and 114.37 MB/s for 4K random write. Overall, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 performs well in both memory and storage.
CPU Benchmark
The IdeaPad Pro 5 offers two processor options: one with a Ryzen 5 8645HS processor and the other with a Ryzen 7 8845HS processor. The model we reviewed is powered by a Ryzen 7 8845HS processor. The processor is based on TSMC’s 4nm FinFET manufacturing process and has 8 cores and 16 threads. These cores have a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and a peak frequency of up to 5.1 GHz. The processor features 16MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 65W. Here are the performance test results of this processor:
CPU-Z: 643.7 points on single-core and 7,046.8 points on multi-core
Cinebench R23: 1,809pts on single-core and 16,586pts on multi-core

Mr. Zahid, First of all, thank you for reviewing Lenovo’s IdeaPad 5 2-in-1. I bought nearly the same laptop, the only difference being that I have 16 GB of DDR5 RAM. My primary use will be photo editing. In your opinion, at this price point, approximately $800, will this do a good job for photo editing while I am away on photo shoots?
