Dell Alienware 14 disassembly and SSD, RAM, HDD upgrade options
In this guide, I’ll explain how to disassemble Dell Alienware 14 to remove and replace the battery, SSD, keyboard, palm rest, hard drive, wireless card, memory, cooling fan, and motherboard.

Remove two screws securing the back cover. You can remove the back cover.
When back cover removed, you can get access to the battery, hard drive, DVD drive, SSD, wireless card, and memory.
Remove four screws securing the battery.
Disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard. You can remove the battery.
It features an 11.1v, 69wh Li-ion battery. Dell P/N: G05YJ.
Remove two RAMs.
This laptop comes with two Micron 8GB rams.
Remove two screws securing the DVD drive and disconnect the yellow cable from the motherboard. You can remove the DVD drive.
The laptop features a 9.5MM SATA Panasonic UJ8C7 DVD burner.
Remove two screws securing the hard drive and slide it to the left. You can remove it.
Western Digital 750GB, 7200RPM hard drive
Remove one screw securing the wireless card and unplug two antennas. You can remove the wireless card.
Wireless card
Remove one screw securing the SSD and remove the SSD.
The laptop comes with a Liteon LMT-64M6M 64GB mSATA SSD.
Remove the palm rest.
Remove three screws securing the cooling fan.
At the point where the power cord enters the case, the power plug wobbles. Likely the case might be cracked or the internal plug inside casAe is damaged. No photos of this point. Seems to be under the half height cards. I am guessing this is a common repair problem. Actually under Warranty, but Dell did not repair it when I sent it in. Perhaps I did not describe my issue very well. Electrically it works. Rumor is that the internal side of the power plug in is on the primary MOBO. If you can offer info on this area of the computer, it would be nice.
It’s so ridiculous you have to disassembly so many parts just to clean the fan.
Same shit as in the Alienware m14x which I am currently using and typing this.
Actually disassembly isn’t that bad. One heck of an improvement over HP. One of the easiest I’ve worked on in recent memory.
