MediaTek is reportedly planning to launch a new 6nm chipset after launching the Dimensity 700 5G, which is based on a 7nm manufacturing process. The MT6893 chipset was spotted in the AnTuTu benchmark a few days ago.
Surprisingly, its total score exceeds that of the Snapdragon 865. The prototype device of this chipset scored 622,409 points, while the SD865 scored about 611K points.
The prototype device with the MT6893 chipset was equipped with the following specifications:
- 2340×1080 (Full-HD+) resolution with 90Hz display
- 8GB LPDDR5 RAM
- 256GB UFS 3.1 storage
- Android 11 OS
- Codename: Alps
The current running score does not represent the final performance of this SoC, and further improvements should be made in the future. The SD865 chipset has scored more points in terms of CPU and UX. The phone used for comparison with the MT6893 chipset is the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
As previously reported, the MT6893 is an octa-core chipset with a 6nm manufacturing process. It consists of one Cortex-A78 core at 3.0GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. The chipset uses a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU.
The chipset is expected to be launched soon. MediaTek may launch a new chipset series with a new name for its 6nm chipset.
