For a long time, it was expected that MediaTek might launch a new chipset series that would be the successor of the Dimensity 1000 series. The MT6893 chipset is also in rumors these days, which seems to be a mid-range chipset.
Today, MediaTek has announced that they will hold a launch event on Jan 20 to launch the new Dimensity series chipset.
According to the netizen, it is still unknown whether the new Dimensity series is a successor to the Dimensity 1000 series or if it belongs to the previously leaked mid-range chipset (MT6893).
It is expected that this new series will be based on the 6nm manufacturing process, as it was reported that Mediatek is working to bring that. The new Dimensity 2000 series is expected to feature a Super Cortex-X1 core, which would bring the chipset’s performance to another level.
The other chipset with the codename MT6893 seems to be a new mid-range chipset, which can also be part of the launch event mentioned above. The chipset MT6893 consists of four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum frequency of 3.0 GHz.
We have to wait a bit more until the full confirmation of which new series chipset MediaTek is planning to launch. The launch event is set to happen on Jan 20 at 14:30.
