Mediatek Dimensity 7000 5G Specifications Revealed: Sub-Flagship Chipset

It was reported that Mediatek would most probably launch another flagship chipset along with Dimensity 9000, named “Dimensity 7000.” But on the announcement day, the company didn’t reveal that chipset. Now, the latest developments are showing that chipsets will exist in the markets soon.

This afternoon, the famous Chinese blogger @DigitalChatStation has revealed the specifications of the Dimensity 7000 5G chipset. As per the blogger, these are the specifications of the Dimensity 7000 5G prototype. The specifications of the actual chipset can be different.

As mentioned, the new Dimensity 7000 5G will be based on the TSMC 5nm manufacturing process and features eight cores, in which four of them are Cortex-A78 cores (clocked @ 2.75GHz), and the other fours are Cortex-A55 cores (clocked @2.0GHz). The CPU also features Mali-G510 MC6 GPU.

As observed, the new Dimensity 7000 5G seems a slightly upgraded version of the Dimensity 1100 chipset as both chipsets feature the same type and number of cores. The only difference is the frequency of the Cortex-A78 core (which is 2.6GHz in Dimensity 1100).

The chipset also got some improvement over the Dimensity 1100, like the upgraded Mali-G510 GPU and more advanced manufacturing process. Moreover, we can also conclude that this chipset would take the place of Dimensity 1100 in the market.

In 2022, many sub-flagship smartphones will probably feature this chipset.  For increasing the competition, Qualcomm also needs to launch an upgraded version of Snapdragon 870 5G.
