The Huawei Mate 40 series is currently in the development stage. Today, a digital blogger revealed another leak about this phone.

Huawei Mate 40 series will not feature an under-screen camera

According to the blogger, he has personally seen the latest engineering sample or prototype of the Huawei Mate 40. The phone does not use under-display camera technology.

As a leading display technology R&D company, Visionox has launched the world’s first mass-produced under-display camera solution. There were previous rumors that Huawei might use this solution in the Mate 40 series. However, the blogger has confirmed that the Mate 40 series will feature a regular notch camera or a punch-hole camera.

Earlier reports indicated that the Huawei Mate 40 series will feature a significantly upgraded camera system. This camera system will include an enhanced telephoto lens (supporting 5x optical zoom and 55x digital zoom) and will continue to use the main camera and ToF sensor from the Huawei P40 series. The phone will also be equipped with a Dali 9P (free-form) lens to improve imaging distortion and aberration issues with the lens.

The launch of the Huawei Mate 40 series might be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is a high chance that this series will be launched in October.
