Lenovo Thinkpad X200 Disassembly (Clean Cooling Fan, Remove Keyboard)

In this guide, I will explain how to disassemble the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 to remove the hard drive, RAM, keyboard, touchpad, wireless card, motherboard, heat sink, and cooling fan.

Turn off your laptop. Unlock and remove the battery.
Remove all screws from the bottom case.

Pull out the hard drive module.

Flip the laptop over. Slide the keyboard in the direction of the arrow.
Slide the keyboard in the direction of the arrow

Lift the keyboard, but please note that the ribbon cable on the back of the keyboard is still connected to the motherboard.

Disconnect the keyboard cable from the motherboard and remove the keyboard.

Disconnect the touchpad cable from the motherboard.
Disconnect the touchpad cable

Remove the touchpad module.
Remove the touchpad

Remove the two screws and pull out the LCD cable.
Pull out the LCD cable

Remove the wireless card.
Remove the wireless card

Use your fingers to separate the keyboard bezel from the laptop.

Remove the keyboard bezel.
Remove the keyboard bezel

Remove the four screws securing the metal plate. The metal plate is used to secure the motherboard.

Lift the motherboard from one side with your hand. On the other side of the motherboard, there is another ribbon cable connected to it.

Disconnect the DC power cable.
Disconnect the DC power cable

Now we have removed the motherboard.

Remove the three screws securing the cooling fan.
Remove the three screws

Disconnect the cooling fan cable from the motherboard.
Disconnect the cooling fan cable

Unlock the snap and remove the cooling fan.
Remove the cooling fan

The cooling fan has been removed.
CPU fan

You can also disassemble the cooling fan and clean it with a hairbrush.
Clean the CPU fan

Add lubricating oil to the cooling fan.
Add lubricating oil to the cooling fan

    Question: How did you open the fan? Simply pulling out (my fan in X200T tablet edition has no screws to open it.)
