Huawei has quietly announced the new generation MateBook D 15 and D 14 laptops. Both products are now available on Chinese e-commerce websites with specifications and renders.
In terms of appearance, both laptops have no physical design differences except for dimensions and thickness. The MateBook D 14 measures about 322.5 x 214.8 x 15.9 mm and weighs around 1.39 kg, while the MateBook D 15 measures 357.8 x 229.9 x 16.9 mm and weighs 1.63 kg.
The D14 2021 features a 14-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and has a pixel density of 157 PPI. The screen brightness reaches 300 nits with an 84% screen-to-body ratio, and it is certified by TÜV Rheinland.
The D15 2021 features a 15.6-inch IPS display with a 141 PPI pixel density and an 87% screen-to-body ratio. All other display specifications are identical to the MateBook D14 2021. It is also worth noting that both models have a hidden 720p HD camera (in the keyboard).
Both models feature the Ryzen 7 5700U and Ryzen 5 5500U chipsets. These processors also integrate an AMD Radeon graphics.
The most important factor is that both models have the same battery specifications: a 56Wh battery and a 65W fast-charging adapter. The total charging time for both models is 100 minutes, but the half-charge time differs. Since the D14 has a smaller display, its battery life is expected to be better.
Both models feature a fingerprint scanner in the upper-right corner of the keyboard. The D14 2021 comes with one 3.5mm headphone jack, two USB Type-A ports (one USB 3.2 Gen1 and one USB 2.0), one HDMI port, and one USB Type-C port. The D15 2021 adds an extra USB 2.0 Type-A port.
