It is revealed that Huawei has silently announced the newer generation or 2021 models of its Mate D 15 and D 14. Both new models are listed on the famous Chinese E-commerce site along with the specifications and renders.
Starting from the appearance, it is observed that these two models have no physical design difference, except the size and thickness. The MateBook D 14 has dimensions about 322.5*214.8*15.9mm and weighs around 1.39kg. While the MateBook D 15 has dimensions of 357.8*229.9*16.9mm and weighs 1.63kg.
Come to display, the basic version (D14 2021) has a 14 inches IPS Display (matte screen) with Full-HD (1920*1080p) resolution, 16:9 screen ratio, 100% sRGB color gamut, and 157 PPI. The screen also got a brightness of 300nits, 84% screen-to-body ratio, and low blue light eye care certification (from TUV Rheinland).
The better version (D15 2021) has a 15.6 inches bigger IPS Display with a lower 141 PPI and 87% screen-to-body ratio; the other display specifications are the same as MateBook D14 (2021). It is also important to mention that both models have a 720p HD hidden webcam (in keyboard).
In terms of SoC, all these two models use the Ryzen 7 5700U and Ryzen 5 5500U chipset. The processor also has a built-in AMD Radeon GPU.
The most important factor, battery, is also the same in both models: 56Wh battery ships with 65W Fast charger. The total charging time of both models is 100 minutes, while the half charging time is different. Due to the smaller Display in D14, better battery life can be expected.
In terms of security, both models feature a fingerprint scanner on the right top of the keyboard. If we talk about the ports, the D14 (2021) has a 1x 3.5mm headphone jack, 2x USB Type-A port (1x USB 3.2 Gen1 and 1x USB 2.0), 1x HDMI Port, and 1x USB Type-C port. In D15 (2021), there is an additional USB 2.0 Type-A port.
