Xiaomi 12 series codename revealed, powered by SM8450 SoC

Previous reports indicated that Qualcomm is working on a successor to the Snapdragon 888 chipset codenamed SM8450. The leak also revealed that this chip will be manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process and will feature the X65 5G modem.

Today, Digital Chat Station revealed that two Xiaomi devices, codenamed Zeus and Cupid, have been leaked with chipsets manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process.

According to sources, these two new codenames belong to the Xiaomi 12 series, which is expected to be launched in mid-December. Last year, Xiaomi was the first smartphone manufacturer to use the Snapdragon 888 in the Xiaomi 11, and it seems that the same will happen again this time.

Previously, Digital Chat Station reported that the SM8450 will be upgraded to a 4nm process, with limited improvements to the cooling system, but its performance will be 20% higher than the Snapdragon 888. In addition, this chipset will use the ARMv9 architecture, and the GPU will be upgraded to the Adreno 730 instead of the Adreno 660.

In addition to the chipset, the Xiaomi 12 series is expected to feature an upgraded display. The series is likely to feature an under-display camera and LTPO adaptive refresh rate, allowing adjustment from 1Hz to 120Hz.
