Xiaomi Mi 12 series codename revealed, powered by SM8450 SoC

Previous reports indicated that Qualcomm is working on a successor to the Snapdragon 888 chipset codenamed SM8450. The leak also revealed that it will be based on Samsung’s 4nm process and use the X65 5G modem.

Today, the famous Chinese blogger Digital Chat Station revealed that two Xiaomi devices with codenames Zeus and Cupid have been leaked with a chipset based on Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process.

According to sources, the two new codenames belong to the Xiaomi 12 series, which is expected to be launched in mid-December. Last year, Xiaomi was the first smartphone manufacturer to use the Snapdragon 888 in the Xiaomi 11, and it seems that the same will happen again this time.

Previously, Digital Chat Station reported that the SM8450 will be upgraded to a 4nm manufacturing process, and the heat dissipation system wouldn’t improve much. However, the performance will be 20% better than the Snapdragon 888. In addition, the SM8450 chipset will use the ARMv9 architecture, and the GPU will be Adreno 730 instead of Adreno 660.

In addition to the chipset, the Mi 12 series is also expected to have better display specifications. It is also expected to feature under-screen camera technology and LTPO adaptive refresh rate. It can achieve an adaptive refresh rate adjustment feature ranging from 1 to 120Hz.
