It was previously rumored that OnePlus is working on another premium mid-range smartphone that would feature the same chipset as the standard, OnePlus Ace. However, the rumors seem authentic as the company has officially confirmed the existence of a new OnePlus device.
This morning, OnePlus officially announced that the company will launch the all-new OnePlus Ace Edition on May 17 at 7 PM (Chinese Timing), which would feature the same Dimensity 8100 Max chipset as the standard model but is also specially designed for gaming.
Judging the device’s appearance from the official poster, it can be seen that the design is now very different. The new OnePlus Ace Race Edition will feature a Dual Camera setup along with an LED Flash. Moreover, the camera module is attached and edged with the right side of the frame.
The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the lock screen button, unlike the standard version (which comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner). The display would probably be an IPS LCD as it doesn’t support an in-display fingerprint sensor. Previously, a OnePlus device was also revealed on TENAA Certification, which was expected to be OnePlus Ace Race Edition, but there are many differences between them.
As mentioned before, the device is equipped with the Dimensity 8100 Max chipset, a modified version of the standard Dimensity 8100. It is worth noting that Mediatek, in collaboration with OnePlus, exclusively designs the Max version of Dimensity 8100. In addition, the new gaming phone will also have a breakthrough in terms of heat dissipation, fast processing, vibration motor, and battery life.
In terms of pricing, the officials also mentioned that this model would be priced at around 2000 RMB ($295). In the upcoming days, the officials are expected to reveal more device highlights.
