Redmi Gaming Phone will be an enhanced version of Redmi K40, and will launch on April 27

A few days ago, Redmi announced that it would soon launch its first gaming phone. Although the device has appeared on several certification websites, its appearance and launch date are still unknown. Today, Redmi finally revealed almost all the details.

Today, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing announced that this gaming phone will be an enhanced version of the Redmi K40 and will be launched on April 27. The full name of the phone is Redmi K40 Gaming Enhanced Edition.

The launch poster also reveals that the Redmi gaming phone will feature a triple camera setup. There are also two words mentioned on the camera module: ‘speedy’ and ‘freezing’. The back panel of the phone will be designed with carbon fiber material.

This gaming phone may have a special game button. As shown in the picture, the sliding button can reveal additional buttons and light up the camera area. Redmi also mentioned the slogan: not thin like a regular phone, but a hardcore gaming phone.

The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will feature a Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a punch-hole and a 144Hz refresh rate. Like the Redmi K40, this screen has a small hole, and the side and bottom bezels are also relatively narrow.

The phone is expected to feature the Dimensity 1200 chipset built on a 6nm process. It has four Ultra Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores.

The phone will have a 5000mAh battery and support 67W fast charging. It will also have a side fingerprint scanner.

The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will be announced on April 27 at an online event.
