In December 2022, Vivo introduced its Vivo S16 series, including three models: Vivo S16e, S16 standard edition, and S16 Pro. The basic model was equipped with Exynos 1080, while the high-end model was powered by Dimensity 8200. However, it seems that the company is looking forward to releasing the next generation as per the latest news from the industry.
This morning, the famous Chinese blogger @DigitalChatStation (on Weibo) revealed the camera specifications of Vivo’s new device. As per sources, the camera specifications belong to the Pro version of Vivo’s upcoming Vivo S17 series.
As said by the blogger, the Vivo S17 Pro will feature a triple camera setup, including the Sony IMX766V 50MP Super Spectrum Primary sensor with OIS support. It is worth mentioning that the Sony IMX766V isn’t similar to Sony IMX766. It comes with some tweaks done by Vivo for better photography.
In addition, the Vivo S17 Pro will also feature an 8MP Ultra Wide Angle lens for capturing ultra-wide shots. The third lens is a 12MP Sony IMX663 Portrait lens for capturing images in bokeh mode.
Compared with the previous generation model (Vivo S16 Pro), we are getting a 12MP portrait lens instead of a 2MP macro lens this time.
As per previous news, the Vivo S17 series will include three models (like the previous generation): Vivo S17e, Vivo S17 standard, and Vivo S17 Pro. The standard version is reportedly powered by Snapdragon 7 series chipset (most probably Snapdragon 778G or 782G), while the top version will still be powered by Dimensity 8200.
In terms of display, the top two versions will feature an OLED Display, which would support 1.5K resolution and be manufactured by BOE. The screen sizes are unknown, but sources also claim that the screens would have curved edges. However, there is no news regarding the basic edition’s specs.
The all-new Vivo S17 series is expected to be launched in May (next month) or June 2023.
