In August 2022, Xiaomi introduced the second generation of its Mi Mix Fold, Xiaomi’s foldable flagship lineup. As per the latest reports, the company is now looking forward to releasing the successor model (probably in August), which will be named Mi Mix Fold 3.
This morning, the famous blogger @DigitalChatStation (on Weibo) revealed the major specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. The blogger has seen the model’s prototype device, though it has been observed that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will adopt a foldable screen with water-drop hinges. At the same time, the device features a curved glass body which is still thin and lightweight.
Regarding the chipset, the Mix Fold 3 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset. Currently, it is the best chipset you can get in an Android smartphone from Qualcomm. The chipset is based on TSMC’s 2nd Generation 4nm manufacturing process and features the Cortex-X3 Super Core (clocked @3.2GHz), Snapdragon X70 Modem, and Adreno 740 GPU (@680MHz).
In terms of camera, Xiaomi’s new folding device features a quad lens setup in which there is a 5x Periscopic Telephoto lens. In addition, the camera also supports 3.2x Portrait Center Focus. It is worth mentioning that this would be Xiaomi’s first flagship device that features a periscopic lens.
Compared with previous telephoto lenses, its most significant advantage is that they allow mobile phones to capture far scenes and bring better optical zoom effects. The blogger also reported that the Mi Mix Fold 3 would support 67W fast wired and 50W fast wireless charging. Moreover, the communication capability of the device would also be enhanced.
At the moment, it is expected that the all-new Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will debut in August. In the same month, Samsung is also expected to reveal its new foldable flagships.
