Today, Honor Mobile officially announced on Weibo that the company will launch the Honor Play5 series on May 18 at 19:30. The launch poster also mentions the device’s renders.
Judging from the appearance, it can be concluded that this model is the Honor Play5. It features a U-shaped notched display. The bezels and chin of the display are significantly reduced.
According to previously leaked information, the Honor Play5 will feature a 6.53-inch OLED screen, packed with Full-HD+ resolution. The phone would have a thickness of 7.46mm and a weight of around 179g.
On the backside, there would be a matrix quad-camera setup (64MP Main Sensor + 8MP Ultra-wide + 2MP Depth + 2MP Macro). There would be a 3800mAh battery inside the phone.
It is also observed that there is no fingerprint sensor on the body of the phone. The fingerprint might be placed under the display.
The phone comes in two colors: Aurora White and Silver Gradient. The company didn’t mention Play5 Pro renders, but the poster mentions the word “series,” which confirms that it will be launched alongside the Play5.
It is worth mentioning that last year’s standard model was equipped with a Dimensity 800 chipset, while the Pro version was equipped with a Kirin 990 chipset. The chipset in the standard version is expected to remain the same, while the chipset in Pro is also not confirmed yet.
