Today, Honor Mobile has officially announced on Weibo that the company will launch the all-new Honor Play5 series on May 18 at 19:30 (Chinese Timing). In the launch poster, the company has also mentioned the renders of the device.
Judging from the appearance, it can be concluded that this model is the standard version of the Honor Play5 series. It can be seen that the all-new Honor Play5 features a U-Shaped Notched Display. The bezels and chin of the display are significantly reduced.
According to previously leaked information, the all-new Honor Play5 (Standard Version) will feature a 6.53-inch OLED screen, packed with Full-HD+ resolution. The phone would have a thickness of 7.46mm and a weight of around 179g.
On the backside, there would be a matrix quad-camera setup (64MP Main Sensor + 8MP Ultra-wide + 2MP Depth + 2MP Macro). There would be a 3800mAh battery inside the phone.
It is also observed that there is no fingerprint sensor on the body of the phone. The fingerprint might be placed under the display.
There are two colors of the phone: the first one is Aurora White, while the second one is Silver Gradient. The company didn’t mention Pro version renders, but it is confirmed that it would be launched alongside the standard version, as the word “series” is mentioned on the poster.
It is worth mentioning that the last year’s standard model has equipped with Dimensity 800 chipset, while the Pro version was equipped with Kirin 990 chipset. The chipset in the standard version is expected to remain the same, while the chipset in Pro is also not confirmed yet.
