MediaTek Co-CEO Tsai Lixing said that MediaTek will launch two new products in the Helio P series on the 2018 mobile platform in the first half of next year, including the Helio P40 processor. The latest news suggests that MediaTek will launch two high-end processors, the Helio P40 and Helio P70.

 The Helio P40 and Helio P70 will use a 12nm manufacturing process. Both processors support up to 8GB of LPDDR4X memory. It will add AI technology and support facial recognition, AR/VR, and 3D sensor functionalities.
The P40 chip will consist of four ARM Cortex-A73 cores at 2.0GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 2.0GHz. It comes with a Mail G72 MP3 GPU at 700MHz. The chip will support the Cat7 baseband.
The Helio P70 chip will have four ARM Cortex-A73 cores at 2.5GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 2.0GHz. It comes with Mail G72 MP4 up to 800MHz. The chip supports the Cat12 baseband.
According to the Taiwan industrial chain, Xiaomi will launch a new full-screen smartphone next year, which will be powered by the Helio P40 or the Helio P70 processor. Three manufacturers, including Vivo, Gionee, and OPPO, will use the MediaTek P series processor in their mid-range phones.
