OnePlus launched the OnePlus 9 series with the latest Qualcomm chipset in March 2021. The brand has always used Qualcomm SoCs and has never opted for chips from other companies. However, the latest leaks suggest that this tradition may be about to change.
Today, Digital Chat Station revealed that OnePlus is developing a new smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. This will be the first time OnePlus uses a MediaTek chipset.
The blogger mentions that the phones have a straight screen with a punch hole in the upper left corner, and the screen-to-body ratio is also reasonable.
The camera module will be similar to the OnePlus 9 Pro. It has the same main camera lens, the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. As the blogger mentioned, it will have three cameras. An LED flash will be placed at the fourth lens location.
Surprisingly, this phone will use the old Oxygen OS, while all the company’s latest phones use Color OS. The blogger also mentioned that it is not confirmed whether it will be exclusive to China or launched globally.
According to the blogger, the price will be around CNY 2,000 ($313). We can also expect OnePlus to launch this device as its first gaming phone.
