Back in March 2021, OnePlus introduced its OnePlus 9 flagship series, which was equipped with the latest Qualcomm chipsets. Moreover, it is also known that OnePlus has never used other company’s SoC, except Qualcomm. But now, the latest leaks are suggesting that history might get changed.
Recently, the well-known blogger @DigitalChatStation has revealed that OnePlus is now working on a new smartphone powered by Mediatek’s latest flagship chipset, Dimensity 1200. This would be the first time that OnePlus will use the Mediatek chipset.
The blogger has mentioned that the actual appearance of the Dimensity 1200 equipped machine is decent. The phone features a straight screen with a single punch-hole at the upper-left corner, while its screen-to-body ratio will also be reasonable.
The camera module appearance of the machine will be similar to the OnePlus 9 Pro. It features the same primary camera lens, “Sony IMX766”, a 50MP sensor. The total number of camera lenses would be three, as the blogger mentioned. At the spot of the 4th lens, the LED flash will be placed.
Surprisingly, this machine will use the old Oxygen OS (developed by OnePlus) while all the latest machines from the company are using Color OS. The blogger also mentioned that it is not confirmed whether it would be exclusive to China or will be launched globally.
As per the blogger, the price of OnePlus’s first Mediatek SoC-equipped device will be around 2000 yuan (roughly $313). We can also expect that OnePlus might launch this device as its first gaming phone.
