Today, the company announced that it will launch a self-developed chip at the event on March 29. The specific purpose of this self-developed chipset has not been disclosed, but rumors suggest it could be the second generation of the Surging chip.
According to our sources, this will be an image signal processor (ISP) chip. Xiaomi has announced that the Xiaomi Mix will feature a self-developed liquid lens, so we can infer that this self-developed chip is indeed an image signal processor.
The purpose of an Image Signal Processor (ISP) is to process images from digital cameras and other image-capture devices, such as smartphones.
